Best 360 Feedback Software
How Sageo's 360 feedback compares with Lattice, 15Five, Leapsome, Culture Amp, Betterworks, Engagedly, PerformYard, Primalogik, Teamflect, Trakstar, EchoSpan, Spidergap, Effy AI, SurveySparrow, and Qualtrics.
The verdict
- Best 360 tied to a competency framework
- Sageo, scores 360 feedback against level-by-level expectations generated from your values, with controlled peer nomination.
- Best dedicated 360 with validated models
- EchoSpan, deep, configurable 360s with validated competency libraries for specialist use.
- Best 360 inside a performance suite
- Lattice, if you want 360 feedback in one loop with goals, 1:1s and calibration.
Bottom line. Choose Sageo for 360s measured against your own framework with built-in privacy. Choose EchoSpan for standalone depth, or Lattice to keep 360 inside your performance suite.

For founders, CEOs, and people leaders at companies of 10 to 1,000 employees who want multi-rater feedback people trust and actually act on.
This guide compares 360 feedback only
We compare each product on one thing: its 360 feedback capability. That means how raters are chosen, how anonymity is protected, what the questionnaire measures, what AI does with the responses, what the report shows, and what happens after it. We do not score performance reviews, goals and OKRs, engagement surveys, compensation, or HRIS features here. If you are choosing a full performance management platform, read our companion guide instead: Best Performance Management Software, at sageo.ai/guides/best-performance-management-software.
A note on who wrote this
Sageo publishes this guide. We make one of the sixteen products in it. Every competitor figure comes from vendor materials, pricing pages, buyer-reported pricing data, and review sites, as of September 2026. Every Sageo claim comes from sageo.ai. Where another product has the better 360 for your situation, we say so. Section 7 is entirely about when you should not choose Sageo for 360 feedback.
1. Which 360 feedback software should you choose?
Before you compare any tools, answer one question. Is your 360 for development or for evaluation?
A developmental 360 goes to the individual, often through a coach, and never touches pay. People answer more honestly. An evaluative 360 feeds ratings, calibration, and promotion decisions. It needs shared criteria, consistent scoring, and a clean audit trail, or it turns into a popularity contest. Most tools are built for one of these. The best ones make you choose deliberately.
Sageo is built for the second case done properly: every 360 is scored against the same level-by-level framework the employee can read, weighted, calibrated with a logged reason for every change, and released only after calibration closes. If you want a pure coaching 360 with benchmarks and a debrief, other tools here are stronger, and we name them.
Quick picks
| If this is you | Shortlist | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 10 to 1,000 people, 360s feed ratings or promotions, no shared criteria yet | Sageo | Generates the competency framework from your values, scores 360s against it, calibrates, and turns results into development plans. €6 per seat. |
| EU employer that needs defensible AI in feedback | Sageo, Leapsome | Humans approve all AI output. Sageo de-identifies employee names before data reaches the AI. |
| Leadership development with coaching debriefs and benchmarks | Culture Amp, Spidergap, EchoSpan | Developmental by design, self vs others gap reports, coach-led release. |
| You are a coach or consultant running 360s for clients | EchoSpan, Spidergap | Pay per review or per recipient, white-label reports, raters are free. |
| Cheapest way to run a first 360 in Slack or Teams | Effy AI | Free up to 5 users, $3 per seat for a single cycle, live in under 30 minutes. |
| Company runs on Microsoft Teams | Teamflect | 360 in every tier including free. Four anonymity modes. |
| Strict, documented anonymity thresholds | Engagedly, EchoSpan, Primalogik, Qualtrics | Minimum response rules that merge or suppress small rater groups. |
| 1,000+ employees, research-grade analytics, big budget | Qualtrics | I-O psychologist models, Text iQ, longitudinal tracking. $25,000+ a year. |
2. What is 360-degree feedback?
360 feedback software, also called 360 review software, 360-degree feedback software, or multi-rater feedback tools, gathers input on one person from several perspectives at once: self, manager, peers, direct reports, and sometimes external stakeholders. It is a close cousin of performance review software, which runs the formal review cycle, and sits inside the wider talent management software category. This guide is about the multi-rater assessment itself.
A 360 is not a survey with more respondents. It is a seven-step process, and tools differ sharply at each step. We assessed every product against the same seven steps.
| # | Step | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Purpose | A clear choice between developmental and evaluative use, reflected in who sees results and whether they touch pay. |
| 2 | Questionnaire | Behaviours tied to role and level. Validated or company-specific competencies, not generic statements. |
| 3 | Rater selection | Self, manager, peer, direct report, and external where relevant. Nominations checked by a manager. Controls against rater fatigue. |
| 4 | Anonymity | Minimum response thresholds per rater group. Clear rules on who can see what. |
| 5 | AI assistance | Theme summaries and writing help that protect rater identity, with guardrails on what AI can decide. |
| 6 | The report | Self vs others gaps, blind spots, hidden strengths, and results by rater group. |
| 7 | Follow-through | A development plan, a debrief, and a way to measure change over time. |
Three kinds of 360 software
| Category | Products | What the 360 looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated 360 tools | EchoSpan, Spidergap, Effy AI | The 360 is the product. Strong on reports, anonymity, and per-recipient pricing. |
| Survey platforms | Qualtrics, SurveySparrow | 360 built on a survey engine. Strong analytics and customisation, more setup. |
| Performance suites with a 360 module | Sageo, Lattice, 15Five, Leapsome, Culture Amp, Betterworks, Engagedly, PerformYard, Primalogik, Teamflect, Trakstar | 360 lives next to reviews, goals, and development. Results can feed calibration and plans. |
3. What seven questions decide your shortlist?
Ask every vendor these. They separate a 360 people trust from one they game.
1. Developmental or evaluative, and does the tool respect the choice?
Culture Amp and Spidergap are explicitly developmental: results go to the individual or a coach, not to pay. 15Five, Lattice, and Betterworks feed 360 results into calibration and compensation. Sageo scores and calibrates 360 input against a shared framework, then turns it into a development plan. Know which you need before the demo.
2. What are raters actually rating?
Generic items like "communicates well" produce generic data. EchoSpan offers 80+ validated competency models. Qualtrics uses I-O psychologist models tiered by seniority. Culture Amp's Focus Scale asks what someone should do more or less of. Sageo scores against level-by-level expectations generated from your values, the same ones the employee can read.
3. Who picks the raters, and who checks the picks?
Self-nominated lists without review become friendly lists. Look for manager approval (15Five, Spidergap, Qualtrics, Primalogik, EchoSpan) and fatigue controls such as PerformYard's duplicate-request checks or Primalogik's batched emails.
4. What exactly protects anonymity?
Ask for the minimum number of responses before a rater group is shown, and what happens below it. Engagedly suppresses or merges below a threshold such as 3 peers. EchoSpan pools rater groups automatically. Primalogik withholds reports until a minimum responds. Teamflect and 15Five offer several visibility modes. Many vendors do not publish their threshold.
5. What does the AI do with comments?
Theme summaries are now common. Check writing help (Effy AI, Lattice, PerformYard), bias and legal checks (EchoSpan scans comments against EEOC guidance), and privacy. Sageo treats every AI output as a draft a person approves and de-identifies names before data reaches the AI.
6. What does the report show?
The self vs others gap is the heart of a 360. Culture Amp, EchoSpan, SurveySparrow, Engagedly, PerformYard, Primalogik, and Qualtrics show blind spots and hidden strengths explicitly. Several suites show scores without a structured gap view.
7. What happens after the report?
A 360 without follow-through is a morale cost. Look for development plans, coach debriefs (Culture Amp's coached release), impact checks (Spidergap's follow-up survey and mini-360s), and change-over-time reporting (EchoSpan, Qualtrics).
4. How much does 360 feedback software cost?
Two pricing models dominate. Suites charge per employee per month, so everyone who gives or gets feedback is a seat. Dedicated tools charge per person being assessed, and raters are free. The table shows year-one cost to run 360s for everyone at 50 and 200 employees. Sageo is priced in euros; dollar equivalents at roughly €1 = $1.17.
How to read this table
If you only run 360s for a handful of leaders, per-recipient tools like Spidergap, EchoSpan, and SurveySparrow are usually cheapest.
If 360 feedback is part of how everyone is reviewed and developed, per-seat suites make more sense, and Sageo includes frameworks, calibration, and development plans in its €6.
| Product | What you need to buy | Year one, 50 people | Year one, 200 people | Watch for |

| Lattice | Talent Management base, $11 | $6,600 | $26,400 | $4,000 floor. |
| 15Five | Perform, $11 | $6,600 | $26,400 | Engage plan has no 360. |
| Betterworks | Performance plan, $8 | $7,500 minimum | $19,200 + implementation | Best above 500 people. |

5. How do the 360 tools compare?

6. How does each 360 tool compare, in depth?
Reminder: 360 feedback only
We compare each product on one thing: its 360 feedback capability, how raters are chosen, how anonymity is protected, what the questionnaire measures, what AI does with the responses, what the report shows, and what happens after it. We do not score performance reviews, goals and OKRs, engagement surveys, compensation, or HRIS features here.
Each profile covers the 360 capability on its own terms, then compares it to Sageo at the end. We start with a Sageo profile in the same format so you have a baseline.
Sageo (reference profile)

Sageo is a culture-first performance platform for companies of 10 to 1,000 people. Its 360 is built for consistency: every rater scores against the same level-by-level expectations the employee can read, generated from your company values. We profile it in the same format as everyone else so you have a baseline.

360 feedback capabilities
Purpose
Scored, calibrated 360s that feed consistent ratings and development plans.
Cadence
Monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual. Choose which feedback types each cycle includes.
Raters
Self, manager, peer, and upward, with controlled peer nomination: reports nominate peers, a manager approves the list, and a per-cycle limit keeps feedback focused.
Questionnaire
Scored against AI-generated, human-approved competency frameworks per level. Competencies weighted per framework, plus one company-wide culture weight.
Scoring and release
Scores are collected, weighted, and held. Results release only after calibration closes, so everyone sees one standard.
Calibration
Distribution view; every score change needs a logged reason on an immutable trail.
Reports
Managers and skip-levels get a live 360 report across their whole line (rating distribution, reviewer-by-reviewer breakdown, top performers, and who needs support). Every employee sees their own blended result in My 360, with peer and reportee comments kept anonymous.
AI and privacy
Every AI output is reviewed by a person. Employee names are de-identified before data reaches the AI.
Follow-through
Results become AI-drafted development plans linked to goals and monthly 1:1s.
Use cases
- Company-wide 360s that feed fair, consistent ratings.
- Making feedback land on shared ground instead of private interpretations.

7. When is Sageo not the right 360 tool?
- You want a pure developmental 360 with coach debriefs and external benchmarks. Culture Amp, Spidergap, and EchoSpan are built for it.
- You are a coach or consultant running 360s for clients. EchoSpan's pay-per-review and Spidergap's per-recipient pricing with free raters fit better.
- You only need 360s for a few leaders, not everyone. Per-recipient tools are cheaper.
- You need external raters, or documented anonymity thresholds. Engagedly, EchoSpan, Primalogik, Qualtrics, and PerformYard publish these details. Sageo's site does not yet.
- You want 360s inside Slack or Teams. Effy AI and Teamflect are built for chat.
- You need research-grade analytics at global scale. Qualtrics.
Where Sageo is the right 360 tool
- Your 360s feed ratings, promotions, or pay, and need to be consistent.
- You want raters scoring against the same written expectations the employee can read.
- You want values weighted into scores.
- You need every calibration change logged with a reason.
- You want results turned into a development plan, not a PDF.
8. What should you ask in a 360 demo?
Ask every vendor these questions and write the answers down.
- Is this 360 built for development or evaluation? Can we run both separately?
- What are raters scoring against? Show me the items for a level 3 manager.
- Who nominates raters, who approves, and how do you stop one person reviewing twenty peers?
- What is the minimum number of responses before a rater group is shown? What happens below it?
- Can external raters take part without a seat?
- What does the AI summarise, and how do you stop comments identifying a rater?
- What employee data reaches the AI, and is it de-identified?
- Show me the self vs others report. Where are blind spots and hidden strengths?
- What happens after the report: a plan, a debrief, a re-run?
- What do we pay if only 20 leaders are assessed, and if everyone is?
9. How was this guide researched?
We compiled this guide in September 2026 from vendor materials, pricing pages, buyer-reported pricing data, and review aggregates on G2, Capterra and TrustRadius. We assessed each product only on its 360 feedback capability, against the seven steps in section 2.
We do not score performance reviews, goals and OKRs, engagement surveys, compensation, or HRIS features here. If you are choosing a full performance management platform, read our companion guide, Best Performance Management Software, at sageo.ai/guides/best-performance-management-software.
"Not stated" means the capability was not in public materials. Estimates are marked. If you spot an error, tell us. Sageo information comes from sageo.ai. All product names are trademarks of their owners. This guide is not endorsed by any of them.

What is the best 360 feedback software?
Sageo is the best fit when you want 360 feedback scored against a competency framework built from your values, with self, manager, peer and upward reviews, controlled peer nomination and privacy by design. EchoSpan and Lattice are strong specialist and suite alternatives.
How many reviewers should a 360 have, and how is anonymity protected?
A typical 360 uses five to eight reviewers across self, manager, peer and upward. Anonymity is protected with a minimum-responder threshold before peer or reportee feedback is shown; Sageo lets admins set this threshold per cycle.
Can 360 tools collect feedback from external raters like clients?
Some dedicated tools support external raters; many performance suites do not. Check this explicitly if customer or partner feedback matters. Sageo focuses on internal 360s (self, manager, peer, upward) with controlled peer nomination.
Do 360 tools score against a competency framework or generic questions?
Most use generic or template questions. Sageo scores against level-by-level expectations generated from your company values, so the feedback maps to how careers actually progress rather than to generic statements.
How much does 360 feedback software cost?
Standalone 360 tools range from a few dollars per user to quote-based enterprise pricing. Sageo includes 360 reviews in its EUR 6 per seat all-in price rather than charging for it as a separate module.
